Church History

On July 20, 1997, the Lord directed Bishop Charles Ricky Walker to establish a work and call it True Holiness The Apostolic Church.  At this time, services were held in the basement of his home, 1024 Lockett Drive, with only 27 members present. They are as follows:  Bishop and Overseer Walker, Elder Shaunte Walker, Elder Sandi Moore, Elder Chris Harris, Deacon Ainsley Duncan, La-Torya Banks, Minister Stacie Rodgers, Evangelist Lesia Ferrell, Evangelist Ann Saunders, Shenequa Saunders, Shekedra Jones, Xavier Woodson, Deacon Yorick Rodgers, Elder Allen Plummer, Teresa Plummer, Elder David Price, Missionary Ann Price, Minister Kenisha Chandler, Mercedes Price, Candace Price, Courtney Graham, Deacon Anson Ferrell, Deacon Korwind Stokes, Gary Martin, Missionary Berta Rodgers and Dawayne Farmer.

On November 1, 1997, the Lord blessed True Holiness with a new home at 318 Main Street in downtown Danville, VA. In July 2003, God saw fit to make an addition to the church name.  It was at that time we became True Holiness The Holy Tabernacle of Jesus Christ.  After 7 years at 318 Main Street and with a membership of approximately 141 members, once again it was time to move.

On October 17, 2005, True Holiness moved to its new home and present location, 502 Southampton Avenue. God has graciously blessed the ministry with much needed space to continue the work of the Lord, including a campus gymnasium that has become a safe haven and community center for our local youth.

We have been through much, experienced a lot, but after all, we are still here.  True Holiness, not just the name, but also the lifestyle in which we live!
